Is a campervan a good choice for a one-week trip from Melbourne?

Think through daily use: parking a larger vehicle, preparing beds and disconnecting at a campsite before dinner. A car with cabins can be easier if you expect to move every night.

Check where overnight camping is allowed and reserve holiday parks in busy periods. You cannot assume that a quiet roadside or beach car park is a legal place to sleep.

Price the whole trip, including powered sites, fuel, insurance excess and any one-way charge. A campervan is not automatically the cheaper option once overnight places are included.
