About Shedshaker Brewing Company

Castlemaine’s The Mill precinct hides a brewery where Italian-leaning share plates and fresh microbrews outshine standard pub fare. Known to regulars as The Tappy, this sprawling indoor-outdoor shed bypasses tired parmas for hand-stretched pizzas, pappardelle with rich ale ragù, and twice-cooked kipfler potatoes with aioli. Dietary restrictions are treated with serious respect rather than an afterthought—rigatoni turns heads with house-made plant-based sausage and lentil cream, flanked by dedicated vegan desserts. Tasting paddles flow with seasonal golden ales and chocolate porters, while bands take the stage downstairs and a quieter sensory-friendly upstairs zone offers breathing room.

  • Thoughtful Vegan & Dietary Menus: Full plant-based lineup featuring house-made vegan sausage, lentil cream, and dedicated desserts alongside classic meat pizzas.
  • Sensory-Friendly Space Options: Upstairs seating and online booking accommodations offer a quieter dining retreat away from live bands.
  • Craft Tasting Paddles: House-brewed golden ales, hazy pours, and chocolate porters poured fresh on tasting paddles in The Mill precinct.

The vegan rigatoni was so amazing! I initially took it down to check if it was in fact vegan because I wasn't sure - that's when you know the dish is good!
