Hardware Street’s portal straight to a candlelit Norse feast pairs serious culinary chops with visceral Viking theatrics. Costumed staff guide tables through shared menus, starting with guests choosing their own carving weapons from a presented knife roll. Patrons regularly rave about the rituals—downing whisky straight through a charred bone marrow luge, sipping mead from horns, and carving into massive centerpiece cuts like the slow-braised Thor’s hammer beef or a hefty tomahawk. Crisp cucumber agurksalat and roasted pumpkin balance out the rich, heavy feast.
- Immersive Atmosphere: Candlelit subterranean decor, shields, and old-world Nordic music transport diners away from the everyday Melbourne streetscape.
- Epic Carnivore Feasts: Substantial cuts designed for sharing include the signature slow-braised Thor's hammer and large-format tomahawk steaks.
- Theatrical Libations: Interactive tableside bone marrow whisky luges, specialty mead, and drinks served in authentic horn vessels.
- Engaging Hospitality: Costumed hosts lead interactive rituals, from custom knife selection to birthday toasts, with warmth and menu expertise.

Ryan Taylor Interactive Weapon and Knife Selection
Before carving into substantial mains, diners are invited to select their own specialized meat knife from a presented collection.
The little thematic touches—like the prayer to the gods and the ritual of selecting a knife—were incredibly well done.
Jordan Craigie Memorable Celebrations and Milestone Honors
Milestone birthdays and anniversaries receive personalized hospitality, including signed cards, keepsake gifts, and celebratory toasts.
Because it was a special occassion we did get complimentary mead shots and a little gift at the end too, which was such a nice touch and made it extra special.
Emily Communal Feasting for Groups
Large-format signature dishes such as the 2kg Thor's Hammer beef shin and Tomahawk steaks are designed specifically for group feasting.
The menu is designed so that friends or family can share the delicious food.
J T G Nielsen Horn Vessels and Bone Marrow Whiskey Luges
Signature drinking horns serve mead, cocktails, and craft beer, paired with interactive roasted bone marrow whiskey luges torched table-side.
And the extra shots of whiskey off the bone marrow & mead just made the night even more enjoyable.
Mindy Taylor Tender, Generous Slow-Braised Meats
Slow-cooked, generous meat dishes like Thor's Hammer braised beef melt off the bone and deliver rich, hearty satisfaction.

Bone Marrow
One highlight was the bone marrow, served with bread and torched at the table. Paired with a shot of whisky, it was a bold and fun experience that I’d happily repeat.
Jordan Craigie Tomahawk Steak
We ordered the 1.4kg tomahawk steak and couldn't finish it (obviously) so we got a takeaway container to enjoy it the next day.
Emily Salmon Gravlax
We also got the Gravlax (tasty salmon fillets). Amazing 👌
Alessio Petti Thor's Hammer
For the main event, I ordered Thor’s Hammer—an awe-inspiring 2kg of slow-braised beef. The meat was so tender it barely needed my knife, it was very enjoyable.
