Book NowAbout Nick and Nora's Melbourne
Tucked off Benson Walk behind a doorway marked simply \"Champagne and Cocktails,\" this 1930s-inspired haunt turns high-society drinking into an art form. The dimly lit, neo-deco space hums with party energy—velvet seats, brass fixtures, and a dressed-up crowd leaning into date nights or late outings. Drinks lead the show with pure tableside theatre: bartenders shake classics to spec, pop scented smoke bubbles over coupe glasses, and gladly splash extra brine to filthy up a martini. For whiskey lovers, a dedicated app navigates the towering bottle shelves to pinpoint the right dram. The kitchen backs up the bar with buttery lobster rolls, fresh oysters, and blistered octopus, while the occasional live saxophonist cuts through the chatter.
- Neo-Deco Speakeasy Setting: Concealed behind understated laneway signage, the 1930s-style room features vintage brass and moody lighting.
- Theatrical Cocktail Service: Drinks arrive with showmanship, from scented smoke bubbles over coupes to customized dirty martinis.
- Digital Whiskey Discovery: An interactive whiskey app navigates the extensive back bar collection to help patrons pinpoint their dram.
- Raw Bar & Elevated Bites: A pairing menu featuring fresh oysters, char-grilled octopus, and buttery lobster rolls.

Passion Project
I asked for the most impressive looking cocktail on their menu and the Passion Project was recommended. It arrived at our table like an ordinary cocktail and the the waiter used some sort of contraption to produce a Smokey bubble that sat perfectly on top of the glass and when popped provided the perfect hint of smoke through the vodka based cocktail.
T W Old Fashioned
then moved onto an Old Fashioned that was spot on and really hits the mark if you like a classic drink.
Humphrey Laubscher Dirty Martini
The lovely bartender making my drinks gave me an extra little bowl of olives because I loved them so much with my dirty martini, and then extra brine to filthy it up even more.
Caroline Biesse Lobster Roll
The food was easily some of the best we’ve had in a while especially the lobster roll which was packed with meat and served on a perfectly buttery bun.

Before you head over
Practical advice on finding the entrance, transport, and dining options for your visit
Look for the unmarked laneway entrance
The venue sits tucked away off the main thoroughfare in an alley, reachable via stairs with exterior signage that reads 'Champagne and Cocktails' rather than the venue's name. Allow a few extra minutes to navigate the entrance if you have time-sensitive plans.
Opt for public transport over parking
Street parking around Collins Street is scarce, so taking public transport or walking is the easiest way to arrive without transport delays.
Plan on drinks and light bites over dinner
Dishes are small sharing plates and portions are modest, making the food menu best suited for light bites, pre-dinner snacks, or bar hopping rather than a full multi-course dinner.
