About Gigi

Perched above Greville Street, this Parisian salon serves a flat-priced $12 walk-in menu of French bites and cocktails under crystal chandeliers. Drop by early to dodge the door queue and claim a velvet seat or a spot on the balcony terrace. The smart order starts with escargots swimming in garlic-parsley butter, warm gougères, and toasted chicken ribbon sandwiches before finishing on decadent mousse au chocolat. Sundays shift gears entirely for High Tea à la Gigi—bringing out three-tiered stands of savoury bites, warm scones with crème Chantilly, and two hours of free-flowing French sparkling.

  • Flat $12 Walk-In Menu: Dishes and select cocktails go for a flat $12 each on a strictly walk-in basis, drawing lively queues down Greville Street.
  • Sunday French High Tea: Three tiers of sweet and savoury pastries arrive alongside warm scones with crème Chantilly and two hours of bottomless French sparkling.
  • Terrace & Salon Ambience: The upper-level space balances an intimate chandelier-lit interior with an undercover balcony terrace overlooking Prahran.

Why Guests Choose Gigi

How Gigi blends accessible Parisian dining, bottomless Sunday high teas, and intimate terrace drinks.

  • All-Inclusive $12 Food & Cocktail Value

Gigi offers a flat $12 menu across French savory bites, desserts, and cocktails on a walk-in basis, making an upscale salon accessible without bill shock.

I went for the $12 winter menu, which includes both food AND cocktails.

  • Bottomless French Sips & Tiered Tea Service

The Sunday high tea package features a full three-tiered savory and sweet tower paired with flowing French wines, filter coffee, and fragrant loose-leaf teas.

For drinks, wines are free flow with four types to choose from, filter coffee was smooth and milk can be requested with the coffee, and the loose leaf teas I tried including earl grey and lemongrass & ginger were properly steeped and fragrant.

  • Intimate Parisian Salon Atmosphere

Crystal chandeliers, velvet banquettes, and classic French records immerse visitors in an authentic Parisian parlor atmosphere right in Melbourne.

Crystal chandeliers, velvet seating, and the gentle rhythm of French music create the feeling of an intimate Parisian salon rather than a conventional tea room.

  • Classic French Bistro Delicacies

From buttery toasted chicken sandwiches to escargot and rich chocolate mousse, traditional French recipes are served fast, fresh, and full of flavor.

The food, of course, was the star, with genuinely yummy options available. We had the Escargots au Beurre Persillé, Gougères au Fromage, Gigi’s Chicken Sandwich and La Petite Sœur Cheeseburger. Each dish came out fast, hot and with beautiful flavours.

Had a great high tea for my wife’s birthday. Great food, cosy vibes and exceptional service from the staff who really made us all feel so special.

Before you head over

Practical advice for timing your walk-in visit and securing high tea bookings

  • Arrive early to beat peak door queues

Arrive around 5:20pm to get seated right away for the flat-rate menu; queues often build down the stairs and out the door during peak evening hours, with waits reaching 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Opt for pairs over larger groups

The walk-in format fills intimate two-tops much faster than larger configurations, making groups of two the smoothest fit during popular evening hours.

  • Reserve ahead for Sunday high tea

While the weekday and evening bar operations run strictly on a walk-in basis, the Sunday French high tea requires an advance reservation.
