About The Rainbow Hotel

Tucked into a quiet Fitzroy side street, this unpretentious local nails proper pub fare, rotating craft taps, and a heated, dog-welcoming beer garden. Inner-north regulars steer clear of the hectic main drag to claim covered courtyard tables warmed by cafe blinds and live weekend sets. Behind the bar, taps rotate through local craft pours alongside gluten-free cans. The kitchen turns out massive chicken parmas, $25 Wednesday porterhouse steaks with mash, and Sunday roasts packed with trimmings. Dedicated coeliac diners even get their own fryers for cross-contamination-free chicken burgers and chips alongside pints of Two Bays.

  • Dog-Friendly Heated Courtyard: Heaters and cafe blinds keep the spacious covered courtyard comfortable year-round for drinks with four-legged companions.
  • Coeliac-Safe Menu Items: A dedicated kitchen setup delivers cross-contamination-free chicken burgers and chips alongside Two Bays gluten-free craft beer.
  • Weekday Specials & Roasts: Mid-week draws include $25 Wednesday steak nights with sides, Tuesday trivia hosted by Saj, and generous Sunday roasts.
  • Craft Taps & Live Music: A constantly shifting tap lineup features Victorian and international craft brews alongside weekend live bands.

Why Choose The Rainbow Hotel

Why locals and visitors make this hidden Fitzroy gem their go-to pub

  • Substantial, High-Quality Pub Fare

Generous, properly cooked pub classics—from chicken parmas to succulent steaks and schnitzels—are served alongside a rotating craft tap beer selection.

The parma is massive and satisfying, and the popcorn chicken with aioli and buffalo sauce is addictive. Everything I’ve tried has been proper pub food done really well.

Mid-week deals like the popular Wednesday steak night and Sunday roasts offer outstanding quality and dining value without compromise.

Cute spot with one of the yummiest steak night deals I’ve had in a while. $25 for a steak and two sides, i went with the mash and salad. Amazing !
