Book NowAbout Mamak Melbourne
Watch freshly flipped roti canai stretch behind the street-facing window before it lands hot at your table with spicy sambal and curry dips. The kitchen works at a quick clip on Lonsdale Street, turning out charred satay skewers with chunky peanut sauce alongside plates of nasi lemak and wok-fried noodles. Regulars gather over tall, sugar-dusted towers of paper-thin roti tisu and grab take-home jars of house satay sauce from the counter on the way out.
- Window Roti Theatre: Dough is flipped and stretched to order directly in the front window for street-side viewing.
- Charcoal-Grilled Satay: Flame-grilled chicken and beef skewers arrive with thick, house-blended peanut sauce.
- Take-Home Sauces: Bottles of signature satay sauce and house sambal are stocked at the counter for takeaway.

Watching them do their craft in the window is such a spectacle that one must do when visiting.
Julius Wolfe Dramatic Sweet Roti Tisu
Diners are treated to playful dessert architecture with paper-thin sweet roti served standing tall in dramatic cone formations.
The roti was paper thin, coated with sugar on one side and rolled into a tall standing cone. It was sweet, very crispy and fun to eat

I definitely recommend eating at a place like this family style by ordering several main dishes and sharing them with the whole table so you get to try as many options as possible.

MazB [Hangrymaz] Chicken Satay
Chicken Satay (6 pieces) (AUD18): Easily the favourite dish of the night. The peanut sauce was incredible, slightly chunky with a light sweetness and lots of fragrant herbs. The grilled chicken stayed juicy and tender.
Am I XNhi? Mee Goreng
Mee Goreng (AUD19): Malaysian style fried noodles. It reminded me a bit of Pad Thai, but with a richer sauce and thicker noodles.
