About Hobson's Bay Hotel

Rooftop drinks meet sweeping views of the bay and Melbourne skyline across three distinct levels in Williamstown. Downstairs houses a crackling fireplace and classic public bar, while the open-air deck upstairs catches the afternoon sea breeze. Regulars point to the kitchen's Mediterranean-leaning share plates—creamy burrata with caponata alongside crisp fried artichokes—before tucking into reliable pub counters like a golden chicken parmigiana or charcoal-grilled steak.

  • Rooftop skyline views: Third-floor open-air deck pairing cocktails with sweeping panoramas of Port Phillip Bay and the city skyline.
  • Three-level layout: Three distinct stories separating the ground-floor pub bar, a mid-level event floor, and the top-floor open terrace.
  • Elevated pub classics: Shares like burrata over caponata and crispy artichokes sit alongside dependable steak and parma specials.

  • Burrata with sourdough

The burrata was fresh and creamy with a soft center. It was served over a caponata-style vegetable mix that added a nice sweet-acidic contrast. The balsamic drizzle wasn’t overpowering, and the toasted sourdough on the side had good structure and crunch. Simple ingredients, done properly.

  • Fried artichokes

The fried artichokes were perfectly cooked, golden and crisp on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy at all. They were easy to share and paired really well with the dipping sauce.

  • French martini

Our server, immy and Annie was amazing and suggested us a French martini. Would recommend!

  • Aperol spritz

The spritz was well balanced, not overly sweet, properly chilled, and refreshing. A solid start.
